Communications Professional Seeking Full-Time Employment

In an ever-changing era of creative innovation, the most effective way to engage audiences remains the same — storytelling. It’s the most important skill a communications professional can bring to the table. The ability to tell the stories of a brand’s DNA — its legacy, core capabilities and community impact — is at the foundation of today’s communications landscape.

And I want to be a part of it.

My educational background in journalism taught me plenty, but the single, most-important aspect is to build trust with readers through active listening. This key principle translates to public relations, in which brands are developed by engaging with stakeholders, responding to trends and utilizing targeted campaigns to gain the trust of the public.

I’ve used my opportunities to expand my skill set and become equipped to handle a number of priorities within an organization’s communications department, including media planning, social strategy and copywriting (for brand development, slogan development and social media). My experience within the media & public relations departments of three professional teams — New York Islanders, Birmingham Barons and Chicago Bandits — enabled me to understand (a) how to use my creativity in a number of settings to help support the growth of a brand and (b) how to work effectively across multiple departments within a larger organization.

In addition, my previous roles as a reporter, copy editor and assistant sports editor for a community newspaper — Columbia Missourian — helped to shape my ability as a storyteller as I crafted effective narratives on deadline for a wide range of audiences while adhering to AP Style.

I am committed to growing further as a professional in the communications sector and look forward to interacting with all facets of your company. I would be happy to provide any additional details or documentation necessary during the application process. I look forward to hearing your response and further discussing this opportunity. My contact information can be viewed at the top of the page and please feel free to reach out to me at any time by email or phone. Thank you for your time and consideration.
